Palma, passion for shopping

With its narrow streets and traditional shops, the center of Palma is full of shop windows that let you see the most authentic life in the city. In the surroundings of the Plaza de Cort, small botigas retain all their character, where it is possible to acquire the most typical artisan products of the island, such as the roba de llengos (cloth of tongues), palm heart’s baskets (the llata is the art of braiding palm hearts) or traditional Mallorcan footwear, one of the star artisan products. From Jaime II Street to San Nicolás Square, there is a network of narrow streets full of history with a large number of traditional shops and pastry shops. Then, a labyrinth of alleys converges in the Borne, one of the main commercial roads of the city, where some of the most exclusive fashion firms are established.

Crossing El Borne and continuing to the neighborhood of the Lonja, not only is one of the most important Gothic buildings in the city - the fish market - but also one of the liveliest areas, famous for its wide range of restaurants, bars and stores, where it is possible to discover small jewels dedicated to the decoration and sale of furniture.

Jaime III, at one end of the Borne, is the main commercial artery of the city, where the main international brands of fashion and footwear meet, whose stores also open on Sundays.

Las Ramblas area offers one of the traditional prints of the city, with its flower stalls that occupy the center of the road. Also on this street and in its surroundings, such as the popular Olmos street - which leads to the Plaza de España - and San Miguel street, there are plenty of shops of all kinds, which fill one of the most popular areas with residents and visitors.

Close to San Miguel street, next to the Plaza de España, you will find the Olivar market, one of the most charming in the city, where you can buy the authentic typical products of Mallorca: sobrasadas, cheeses, pastries, etc. and also meat, fish and fresh vegetables.

For those who prefer shopping for hours, Palma has two big spaces for these shopping lovers, the Porto-Pi shopping center at the west end of the Paseo Maritimo; and the Fan Mallorca Shoppping center, two minutes from the airport, formed by open spaces where international brands, restaurants, bars and cinema coexist.
