Music as an educational tool
The aim of these didactic concerts is to bring the orchestra closer to children and teenagers, to awaken their curiosity and appeal to their imagination, using art - and specifically music - as an educational tool.
To conquer the youngest, the OSIB has prepared a function that aims to make known programmatic music through the "Pastoral" Symphony of Beethoven. Programmatic music allows to connect with the audience in a more natural way and enhances their creativity, since it establishes a relationship between music and a story or an image, which facilitates the understanding of the musical structure. In this way, children will discover the value of different musical elements, such as melody or harmony.
The concert seeks the direct involvement of the audience. In the preparation phase, the students have carried out various activities related to the work, such as drawings that reflect the evoked scenes, and that will be projected during the show. In addition, during the performance, the students will sing with the orchestra the different themes of each movement of the symphony, being therefore a very active part of the function. With all this, they assure from the OSIB, "we managed to consolidate the pedagogical objectives and establish a relationship of complicity and proximity between the audience and the orchestra".
