Palma Convention Centre named the best venue for meetings and events in Spain
Palma Convention Centre, inaugurated in April 2017, has performed above expectations in its first year, not only due to the number of events it has hosted, but also the level of acceptance and recognition it has received in the Spanish and international business travel industry, a sign of the interest it has raised and the attractiveness of both the facilities and the destination.
A further sign of this is the award for "Best Venue" for meetings and events in Spain received on July 5 in the thirteenth edition of the Eventoplus Awards held in the Madrid Arena Pavilion.
The Eventoplus Awards are among the most important awards in the meetings and events industry in Spain and Portugal, with their mission being to reward and encourage best practices, innovation and talent. Finalists for the awards were selected from among more than 2,000 candidates, with a transparent process leading to the selection of the final winners by an independent jury.
This is not the only award the Convention Centre has received since its inauguration. Last month, the Meliá Palma Bay Hotel alongside the Convention Centre was named "Best Hotel for Congresses and Conventions" in Spain at the XII Roca Hotel Initiative Awards organised by Gran Hotel Turismo magazine published by Grupo Curt.
The Palma Convention Centre and Meliá Palma Bay hotel have prospered thanks to the extensive managerial know-how and commercial strength of Meliá Hotels International, the company that manages all the facilities, to quickly position itself as one of the best venues in the Mediterranean for the MICE segment.
In 2017, the Convention Centre also won the Spanish Architecture Award, the nation’s most prestigious architectural award, in recognition of innovation and the sustainability of the building designed by Patxi Mangado. This important award adds another positive note to the excellent reputation the Convention Centre has already managed to develop over such a short time, proving to be a key facility for the development of business travel in the Balearic Islands and becoming the most fashionable destination for meetings and events in Europe.
